MICROTUNNELING

LIFCON's Microtunneling Department handles trenchless pipeline and cable installations using remotely guided MTBMs with pipe jacking, up to 72-inch diameter. This method lets us install pipelines and conduits beneath highways, railways, and busy corridors without disturbing the surface above, a critical requirement on projects for major owners like Saudi Aramco. One of our recent projects was a wet retrieval microtunneling crossing for Saudi Aramco's Master Gas System Expansion Phase 3 (PEW04), beneath the Riyadh-Dammam Highway, where we completed a 228-metre single shot in under two weeks. Our scope covers petrol pipeline, high-voltage cable, storm water, and water pipeline installations, each carried out to strict pressure and safety standards for hydrocarbon and utility crossings.

Our Scope

Launch and reception shaft excavation. MTBM (microtunnel boring machine) pipe jacking operations, up to 72-inch diameter. Petrol and hydrocarbon pipeline installation. High-voltage power cable conduit installation. Storm water drainage pipeline installation. Potable and non-potable water pipeline installation. Wet retrieval operations for underwater crossings. Full compliance with Aramco pressure and safety protocols.

Key Achievements

Completed microtunneling up to 72-inch diameter (MTBM / pipe jacking). Delivered a 228-metre single shot in under two weeks. Executed a wet retrieval microtunneling crossing for Saudi Aramco's Master Gas System Expansion Phase 3 (PEW04) beneath the Riyadh-Dammam Highway. Maintained zero surface disruption on one of Saudi Arabia's busiest transport corridors.
