Why overhead transmission?
Overhead lines carry electricity over long distances from power plants to substations. Compared with underground cables, they are generally:
- Lower in installation cost for long routes.
- Easier to inspect and maintain, because the line is above ground.
- Less disruptive to build across open country, because they need no continuous trench.

- Conductor and OPGW stringing with correct tension and safety clearances.
